Karwar: Hundreds of students of degree colleges coming under the Karnatak University, Dharwad, staged a protest in front of the DC’s office here on 10th October, Tuesday demanding the postponement of the fifth semester examinations of B.Com, BBA, BCA and Bsc.
The students of Government Arts and Science College, Divekar College, Shivaji College and Bapuji College in city took part in the protest.
They said the university used to conduct semester examinations in the month of November, but this year it has planned to conduct the exams from October 23 which is too early. As many lessons are yet to be covered, it is not possible for lecturers to complete the syllabus before the exam date. They said that as the government colleges lack lecturers for some subjects, lecturers of other subjects are managing those subjects. In some colleges, lessons are yet to start.
They said the university has not given any gap between the subsequent exams and it will lead to mental pressure to students.
