Karwar: As incidents of communal violence are on the rise in the coastal region, superintendents of police of districts coming under the western range will take stern action against those who instigate violence, said Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Hemanth Nimbalkar.
He told reporters on Saturday that violence was broken out while vacating the shops by the town municipal council in Bhatkal. Taking advantage of the same, some miscreants took away the mobile phone of a police personnel. Investigation in this regard is on. “We don’t have any intention of trouble innocent people. The truth will come out after investigation,” he said.
When asked about Islamic State (IS) training in Dakshina Kannada district, Nimbalkar said he has noticed such posts on social media and is investigating into it. Voice massage over the issue was circulated on social media and probe is under way to identify from where it was emerged. If any facts about ISIS training is emerged, stern measures will be taken to prevent it, he said.
He said: “Before uploading any posts on social media, everyone should think twice whether they will harm peace and harmony in the society. We have separate wings in every district to keep and eye on social media and track objectionable posts.
He said he has directed the superintendent of police to prevent supply of marijuana in Uttara Kannada. The police will not only take action against those who sell marijuana, but also trace the supply chain, he added.

Police officials told to keep a tab on communal elements
Karwar: With alarming increase in communal incidents, in Karwar, directions have been given to police officials to take action against people engaged in such acts, Western Range Inspector General of Police Hemanth Nimbalkar, said.
Speaking after receiving salute at District Temporary Police Training School’s 11 batch of Civil Constable Passing Out Parade Ground, on Sunday, he said, as citizens fear to approach police, their fraternity must be people friendly.
He said, during the riot over vacating complexes, which falls under municipal area in Bhatkal, some miscreants had snatched the mobiles of police personnel. Investigation will be held according to complaint filed against. Miscreants, with out personal conflicts.
Hemanth said, investigation was on over the message on social network sites, quoting that, in Dakshina Kannada district, IS terrorists are being trained. The authenticity of the message has not been confirmed yet. If found genuine, further action will be taken to prevent it he added.
People should understand effects of posting provocative messages on social media sites. The role of public is vital to maintain peace in society. Ethics should be followed by all.
Though there is special unit in all districts, to verify and regulate messages, posted on social media sites, it is not possible to look into individual messages. Directions have been given to Superintendent of Police to check illegal transportation of drugs. Efforts are being made to root out origin of drugs supply, he said.
As many as 121 trainees from various districts, - Mysuru, Kalburgi, Kolar, Shivmogga, Davanagere, Hubballi-Dharwad completed their training.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Byakod administered the oath.
Prizes were distributed to winners of various sports. In indoor games, Avinash Mysuru (First), Iranna Kumbar (Second), Amaresh Raichur (Third), In outdoor games, Raghavendra Kolar (First), Chinnapa Kalloli (Second), and Madhusudhan Reddy (Third).
In Shooting Mohan Kumar N bagged first prize, Arihanth Shirahatti secured second and Rajesab bagged third. Avinash Mysuru bagged the ‘Sarvotama’ Award, and Amaresh bagged Karnataka State Police Chief’s Trophy.
