BENGALURU: The High Court on Monday asked the Department of Pre-University Education and a Moodabidri-based Trust to come out with stringent measures to avoid incidents of question paper leaks and the subsequent award of grace marks.
During a hearing of a PIL by the Trust against the award of grace marks, the division bench of Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath termed the question paper leak and award of grace marks as bad and a complicated situation.
The bench asked the senior counsel of the Trust to hold discussions with Advocate General Madhusudan R Naik on bringing in a stringent formula to avoid similar situations.
Before this, Naik submitted that CBSE has also awarded 17 grace marks this year. The Pre-University Department used to give grace marks every year in case questions were prepared out of syllabus.
Akrama-Sakrama
The division bench of Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath adjourned the hearing of a batch of petitions challenging the Akrama-Sakrama scheme to August 9. The petitioners have challenged the regularisation of unauthorised constructions through ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ scheme by the state government.
