Bhatkal: A 24-year-old youth died on the spot in a tragic road accident on Murdeshwar National Highway 66 when his bike rammed into a truck from behind. The accident occurred around 5:45 am on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Malappa Ramesh Chalwadi, a native of Ilkal in Bagalkot district, who had been residing near Mangalore Airport Road in recent days.
According to sources, both the lorry and the bike were heading towards Mangalore from Honnavar. The lorry suddenly slowed down near a petrol pump in Murdeshwar. As a result, the biker, who was closely following, lost control and crashed into the rear end of the truck, resulting in his instant death.
As soon as the accident was reported, Murdeshwar police rushed to the spot, shifted the body to the hospital after completing formalities, and registered a case to begin their investigation.
