Bidar: Two boys, both aged 16, drowned while swimming in a well along with their friends in Muchalamba village of Hulsoor taluk on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Avinash Sharanappa Machkoore from Muchalamba village and Bhagesh Kamalakar Mane from Kotagera village in Bhalki taluk.

According to sources, five friends had gone to swim in a well near the village. One of the boys, who did not know how to swim, entered the water and began to drown. In an attempt to rescue him, another boy jumped in. Unfortunately, both of them drowned in the process.

Upon receiving the information, PSI Nagendra of Basavakalyan Rural Police Station and CPI Krishnakumar Patil of Manthal, along with other police personnel, visited the spot. With the help of fire and emergency services and local villagers, the bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem.
