Karwar: To mark International Day Against Drug Abuse, policemen of Town police station created awareness among drivers and other people at various auto and tempo stands in Karwar on Sunday.
PSI Padma Devali said that many accidents are taking place as people drive after consuming drugs and other intoxicating drinks. This is causing harm to many precious lives. To check such accidents which affect the victims and also those travelling in the vehicle, drivers must not drink alcohol or consume drugs or gutkha while driving.
She also lamented youths, especially high school students, falling prey to drugs and snubbing their bright future. She said that those getting addicted to drugs and alcohol must be rehabilitated and helped to get out of it. She said that they can seek the help of police in this connection.
Crime Division PSI Bhagwant Kale, Rekha Achari, Sunil Kudtalkar, Hanumantappa Reddar and others were present. The team of policemen created awareness at the auto stands near Subhash Circle, at Kodibag, Sunkeri and tempo stand near fish market.
