Bhatkal: In a gruesome road accident that happened on Moodbhatkal bypass in the taluk, two persons riding on the bike were killed on the spot after they were rammed over by a fish laden truck. The mishap happened on Wednesday late night.

The deceased are identified as Shekhar Subramaniam Naik (25) and Lokesh Manjunath Naik (30). 

The two young men on bike were employed in a hotel in the city and were going towards Shamsuddin circle after finishing their duty, while a fish laden truck full was going heading from Honnavar to Mangaluru. On studying the incident, it was gathered that the lorry may have overturned after hitting the bike and dragged to some distance.

The impact of the collision was such that the bike was completely crushed, as a result of which the two youths died on the spot.

Both the bodies were taken to the mortuary in Bhatkal Government Hospital.
