Bengaluru: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday said he has called a meeting of union ministers and Members of Parliament from Karnataka in Delhi on July 27, to discuss the drought situation and other issues concerning the state.

He also said that the monsoon session of the state legislature will begin from August 13.

"I have called a meeting of Members of Parliament from Karnataka (in Delhi) tomorrow. We have to make them understand about the drought situation. We have to request them. We have to bring to their attention the situation of our dams, other issues, and also pending projects," Shivakumar said.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the MPs' meeting was called so they could raise their voice together in favour of the state, during the ongoing Parliament session.

Shivakumar further said that union ministers would also be requested to attend the meeting, adding that he had already spoken with Pralhad Joshi and V Somanna.

"I have not been able to speak to H D Kumaraswamy and Shoba Karandlaje. I will request all of them," he said.

Noting that the state legislature session will begin from August 13, the CM said, "After August 13 and 14 , there will be Independence Day break, after that, the session will be held for about 10 days."

This will be the first legislature session after Shivakumar assumed charge as the chief minister.
