Abu Dhabi: The Emirati woman, who was shot by her Emirati husband in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah late on July 9, was declared dead on Saturday morning at the Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

The minister of health Abdul Rahman Al Owais had earlier ordered the victim, identified only as H.A.A., to be airlifted to the Khalifa Hospital for treatment and medical care.

The minister of health had instantly responded to the victim's case and ordered a team of neurosurgeons to be dispatched to the woman who was initially admitted to the Saqr government hospital.

As per police sources, investigations are ongoing to identify the reasons behind the crime. "Though the husband handed himself in to the Maamura police station and admitted to his crime, he has not revealed his motives for the crime."

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, late on Saturday, July 9, announced that an Emirati woman, in her 40s, was shot by her husband, a UAE national. "The woman was shot several times by her husband in their house."

The man, also in his 40s, handed himself in to the police immediately after shooting his wife, he added. "Investigations are on to identify the reasons behind the crime."

Salem Al Nar, Federal National Council member, said all the ministry of health officials spared no effort to rescue the life of the woman from the very moment she was shifted to the hospital.

"I was personally following up the condition of the shot woman until late hours at the hospital," he said, paying tributes to the minister who was personally following the case as well.

The minister ordered a team of specialist neurosurgeons to be dispatched to the Saqr hospital for treating the woman, he added.

"The ministry is also communicating with all the specialist hospitals concerned locally and abroad to treat the victim in time."

Al Nar said people on social media need to respect people's privacy, and stop mongering, spreading, or sharing rumors on the husband and his wife. "This is a sensitive issue, and people should respect each other's privacy."
