Madikeri/ Mangaluru: A day after DSP MK Ganapathi was cremated at his native Rangasamudra village in Somwarpet, Kodagu, a CID team led by 1998-batch IPS officer N Hemanth Nimbalkar met his family members at their Jaja Villa on Saturday.

The team spent around 45 minutes at the villa before leaving to Madikeri and then to Mangaluru. Family members have sought time to give their statement in connection with the death of Ganapathi. The team left to Madikeri where they recorded statements of TV office staff and reporters and took a copy of Ganapathi's interview.

The investigation team includes ADGP (CID) CH Pratap Reddy, and the investigation is being carried out by SP Kumaraswamy. Madikeri inspector Medappa and SI Bharath accompanied the team.

Another team questioned two TV reporters at Sudharshan guesthouse.

In Mangaluru, the sleuths reached the office of the Inspector-General of Police (Western Range). Ganapathi was posted as DSP (departmental enquiries) at the office of inspector-general of police (Western Range) headquartered here and was one of the two DSPs attached to the office.

The sleuths inspected Ganapathi's office and also went through the office PC as part of investigations.

Pratap Reddy told reporters the CID had already taken over the investigation from Kodagu district police. "Since Ganapathi worked here (Range office), and also had his residence here, the CID team is in the city for investigation," he said, adding the team is collecting evidence that could help the case. "We will probe the case from all angles," Reddy noted.

Asserting that it is premature to talk about the case and the CID will make a statement once the probe reaches a definitive stage, Reddy parried queries if the government has asked the agency to submit an interim report, given that the legislature is in session. "We will probe all facets of the case and all stakeholders will be given an opportunity to present their side of the case," he said.
