Karwar: District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande assured of extending lifeguard service to all beaches in Uttara Kannada district.
After releasing the annual report of the Ravindranath Tagore Beach Development Authority here on 14th August, Monday, he said that lifeguards are very important on beaches to save the lives of tourists who drown in the sea. He appreciated the work taken by the authority.
To promote tourism in the district, the state government has been releasing funds for development of beaches and ensure basic facilities to the tourists, he claimed.
He further said, various adventure water sports activities have been started on Karwar, Gokarna and Murudeshwar beaches in the district to attract more tourists.
In the coming days, more activities will be launched which will also help generate employment. The state government is planning to conduct international events, including Scuba diving competition, at Netrani Island near Murudeshwar. Such activities will help promote adventure sports and attract tourists, he added.
