Bengaluru: An auto-rickshaw driver lost his life on Thursday evening when a tree fell on his vehicle during rainfall on Katriguppe Main Road.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh, 45, a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar near Ittamadu. According to reports, around 7:30 PM, Mahesh had dropped off passengers near the 43E bus stop and was returning after refueling at a nearby gas station. Due to a cab blocking the road ahead, he was moving slowly when a tree, weakened by rain and strong winds, suddenly collapsed onto his auto-rickshaw.
The impact crushed the vehicle, killing Mahesh on the spot. Fortunately, the cab driver and two women passengers managed to escape unharmed.
Local MLA Ravi Subramanya visited the site and instructed BBMP staff to clear the fallen tree. Police confirmed that Mahesh was living alone and that his family has been informed. A case has been registered at the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station.
