Sirsi: Seeking adequate power supply,the villagers of Hulelkal hobli in Sirsi taluk took out a rally and staged protest in front of the HESCOM office in Sirsi on 5th July, Tuesday.
They stated that citing reason of heavy rains and power lined being cut, scores of villages in Hulelkal hobli are not even getting two hour power supply, they charged.
Kodnagadde, Vanalli, Hulelkal, Jaddigadde, Sonda, Salkini are worst affect areas. Whenever, the matter is brought to the notice of the officials, they are citing reason of uprooting of trees and are not repairing the power lines week together.
The transformers too have gone defunctioning in severval places and no effort is made to repair them.
The people have installed pumps to wells and tanks to lift water for daily purpose, but due to inadequate power supply, people are forced to draw water from wells manually.
From last few days,the lineman has stopped attending phone calls and complaints too are not being registered, they said in a complaint.
As the schools have started the children are facing difficulties to study and they have to depend on candles entire day.
They further said that if the HESCOM does not respond to the problems, the villagers would stop paying their electricity bills and stage protest. Later,they submitted a memorandum to the executive engineer.
