Udupi: "A sports science center will be established in Udupi district to support research activities to prepare quality nutrition for sports persons", said Sports Minister Pramod Madhwaraj on 29th August, Tuesday after inaugurating the National Sports day programme at the Town Hall.
Addressing at the programme he said, “An amount of Rs. 2 crore has been already sanctioned by the government for the establishment of the Sports science center at Udupi. Another center will be opened in Bengaluru for which Rs. 2 crore has been allotted too.”
He further stated that these centers will benefit the sports persons as they will aim at conducting activities related to research on nutritious food, medicine, treatment facilities for injured sports persons and the scientific method to improve the performance of the sports persons in the field.
The programme was jointly organized by Youth empowerment and sports department, Udupi, Dr G Shankar Government Women First Grade College and PG Study Center, Ajjarakad, Udupi, Lions Club Parkala and other organizations.
