Kasargod: In the wake of a tragic incident at Udyavar in Manjeshwar, three children drowned in a pond near Mada on 10th June, Saturday.
The kids were identified as Hashim, Abdul Afrid and Mohammed Saleeem who were 10-11 years old and residents of BS Nagar, Kunjathur.
According to the sources, the trio who were studying in sixth standard, had visited the pond in the evening for a bath and that is when the incident occurred.
The parents were worried when the children didn’t reach home even by nightfall and in a rush of panic they began a search for them along with some neighbors and family members.
During the search, the footwear of the kids were found near the pond which meant the children were still there. On searching further, the bodies were found in the water.
The bodies were recovered and transferred to the Mangalpady morgue for postmortem.
A case has been registered at Manjeshwar police station.
