Bhatkal: A theft attempt was reported at Canara bank ATM located near Ranginkatte, National Highway, Bhatkal on Thrusday,

The thieves broke into the ATM and tried hard to break open the ATM machine, but it was in vain. They were unable to pursue the part of the ATM where the money was kept and hence had to return empty handed.

Police sources say that two youths who were passing by the ATM at around 2:00am early morning, sensed some trouble there and quickly informed the police who were on night patrol. But when the police would arrived at the spot, the robbers were fled away.

According to the police, the thieves broke into the Canara Bank ATM and first of all closed the shutter behind them. It is assumed that one of them was trying to break open the ATM machine, while another was keeping a watch outside ATM, and when he sensed some disturbance, he informed his partner and they fled immediately.

A CCTV camera outside the ATM was missing and the alarm cable was also cut by the robbers. The alarm was supposed to go off even if someone tried to disable it, but it didn’t go off, said police,

It is gathered by sources that the Canara Bank ATM was just filled with around Rs.10 lakh cash on Tuesday evening.
