Bhatkal: A memorandum was submitted to minister of food and civil supplies U T Khader by the delegates of Bhatkal's Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem on 11th August, Friday demanding to implement the Zoning regulation Master Plan in Uttara Kannada district.

The memorandum stated the demand for implementation of the plan, which is in action in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Through this plan, best facilities are being provided for the construction of new houses. However it is hard to believe that, many rigorous laws are present for the construction, repairs and registration of new houses in the Uttara Kannada district.

The memorandum also stated that due to these strict laws and regulations, the people are finding it difficult to construct new houses. The construction of new houses is infeasible and thus, the development of the district has stopped.

It was stated in the memorandum that only 18% of land in Bhatkal has private ownership and else belongs to forest and government. Tanzeem has requested the government to implement the existing zoning regulation master plan in Uttar Kannada district and provide relief to the locals.

Tanzeem delegates also discussed about the current ration card problem faced in the taluk and the loss of property due to the expansion work of National Highway.

Tanzeem General Secretary Altaf Kharoori, vice-president Inayatullah Shabandari, Rabita society General Secretary Muhammed Younus Kazia and others were present on this occasion.
