Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday took exception to the Goa government evicting Kannadigas from the Baina area and asked the neighbouring state to immediately rehabilitate the affected people.
Speaking to reporters here, Siddaramaiah said that the duty of any government is to protect the migrant population, but the Goa government is repeatedly troubling Kannadigas living there.
Siddaramaiah has written to his counterpart in Goa to Manohar Parrikar in this regard. He said that it is important for all states to co-operate with each other to ensure harmony in the federal system.
Earlier in the day, Kudalasangama Panchamasali Mutt seer Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami met Siddaramaiah and gave a representation urging the government to celebrate the Kittur Rani Chennamma and Sangolli Rayanna Jayantis.
