Karwar: A man from Siddapur of Uttar Kannada district has won the prestigious Japan’s Ministry of Environment Award for 2017.
Shrihari Chandraghatgi is an Indian Agricultural Microbiologist and CEO of EcoCycle Corporation and is the first foreigner to be given this award in environment sector.
Shrihari has been living in Tokyo for almost two decades and has done exemplary work in the field of environmental biotechnology. He has received awards for developing innovative and frontline technologies.
The ministry of environment award is given every year jointly by the Ministry of Environment, Japan; National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) of Japan and The Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun (a media group). It is the highest honour given in the environmental sector.
