Kasargod: In a tragic turn of events, the body of a four-year-old girl who went missing a week ago, was found at Panathur here on 9th August, Wednesday.
The deceased Sana Fathima (4 yrs), d/o Ibrahim and Hasina, are the residents of Panathur in the taluk. Her body was recovered near a stream at Bapungaya, about two kilometres from her home.
According to sources, Sana went missing on 3rd August while she was playing in the premises of her house after returning from Anganwadi. A search operation for the girl was launched after she went missing a week ago.
The parents had registered a missing complaint, but there were no clues of where about. They suspected that the child might have been kidnapped by the mafia engaged in using children for begging.
But as the body was found stuck in branches of a tree in a stream, it is suspected that Sana might have fallen into a rainwater channel located near her house and got washed away into the stream, till she was trapped among the branches of the tree.
When the locals noticed the body, they informed the police. The body was later sent for post-mortem to Periyaram hospital. Further investigations are going on.
