Karwar: Condemning Goa government's move on demolishing the houses belonging to Kannadigas, on Baina beach, members of Jaya Karnataka Organization, submitted a memorandum to District Administration, urging the State government to take measures to protect Kannadigas.
Many people from North Karnataka, including Haveri, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Vijayapura migrated to Goa in search of jobs, and constructed houses near Baina beach, the activists informed.
The migrated Kannadigas play major role in the development of Goa. However, the Goa government is cheating them.
In the last 10 years, more than 800 houses were demolished, and now, demolition of 55 houses and two temples is condemnable, they said.
They urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to arrange a meeting with Goa chief minister in this regard.
Jaya Karnataka Organization District unit President Dilip Agrekar, Women’s Wing president Divya Naik, Chief Secretary Roshan Harikantra, City Unit President Santosh Gunagi, Taluk Unit Vice-President Sunil Tandel were present.
