Bhatkal: Hundreds of women came on the streets for a protest and expressed their objection against starting a new liquor shop in Muttali of Bhatkal taluk on 2nd July, Sunday.
As per the notice issued by the supreme court, the liquor shop across national highway shifted near Bunder Road. Observing this, the enraged women came on the streets and held a protest demanding to not allow the start of liquor shops in the locality. School students, as well as ladies, are frequently seen on this road, and are worried about any future problems that may take place.
Taluka panchayat member Meenakshi Jatappa Naik, Chandrahas Naik, Venkatesh Naik Muttali, Ravi Chandra Naik, Hanumanth Naik, Madev Naik, amongst many others were present.
After receiving the information, SI Parmeshvarappa, SI Godgonti along with their team rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation of the place, and later locked the liquor shop. Protestors further threatened to say that for a while they had a peaceful protest, but if their demands aren't met, then they will hold a huge protest in further days, if permission is given for the liquor shop to open. Responding to the protest, excise inspector Shubodha said that they have collected all information from the protesters. After collecting more details, further investigations will be carried.
