Karwar: Hescom Executive Engineer G B Idoorkar informed that, there was no load shedding in Uttar Kannada district. Electricity outage and fluctuation takes place only when there is technical problem, which should be understood by people.

Speaking at Taluk Level Electricity Consumers Grievances Meeting, at District Rangamandir, in City, on Monday he said there was scarcity of 32% linemen and only 18% vacancies were filled for clerical posts and they are providing services with available staff.

"It is not our responsibility to transfer electric poles which fall under City premises. The local muncipal council is responsible for shifting electric poles. As ATP machine has stopped working at Hescom office, four to five staff are busy in billing processes leading to long queues to pay bills. The last tender was cancelled due to technical reasons. So, on August 23, a new tender will be called" Idoorkar explained.

Less voltage power

Since last few days, less voltage power is being supplied in Kodibag and Keshavnayak Waad. People have not received any response calling the toll free number. In some places, electric poles are in precarious conditions, hence, they need to be replaced, Laxman Naik, resident of Keshavnayak Waad said.

In his reply, Gurudas said residents of Keshavnayak Waad are refusing to install transformer in the Waad. As a result less voltage power is supplied. The replacement of electric poles will be taken up soon, he assured.

Kadra Gram Panchayat Vice President said, electric wires are snapped due to the branches falling on them, as the wires are 35 years old. Hescom should provide vehicle to staff as Kadra region includes 900 km of electric wire connection. Claiming that, beneficiaries of Bhagya Jyothi are not getting any facilities, he called for appointment of more linemen to present the group of three linemen. Shantaram Thamse requested for appointment of permanent linemen at Hanakon range. Another consumer sought changing the printing papers in billing machine.

"The electricity is provided through Shirwad grid to Amadalli, Chendia and Araga villages.Instead the three separate Arega grids should be installed in these villages. HESCOM should facilitate us to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi without deducting the electricity," Toduru Gram Panchayat Vice-President requested.

Gurudas informed that, Seabird naval base is getting electricity supply from Arega grid.Hence, villages near the naval base are getting power from Shirwad grid. The project was planned earlier to set up a grid at Amadalli, however there is no space to install. Hence, the request will be sent to forest department to provide space for installation, he added. Sadashivgad was also developed like Karwar, however, it is facing electricity problem since last 25 years. Some wards will not get power from morning to noon. Khurswada and Bavaligad are getting single phase power. The people are facing many problems, Chittakula Gram Panchayat member Suraj claimed.

Gurudas assured to solve the problem by starting up a power distribution centre at Sadashivgad.
