Kumta: Uttar-Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde on 13th June, Tuesday, paid visit to the Tandrakuli village which was hit recently by a  landslide, claiming the lives of three kids.

He talked to the villagers and they demanded shifting of their village from the dangerous spot to a nearby forest area. They said that there is a forest land not far from their village which has a river and is safe from their current location.

They further said that as there is a river in the forest land they can even take up fishing activities. But, no promises were made by the MP and he said that if there is any such private land, he will discuss about it with the officials.

The villagers were not pleased with MP’s statement and held a flash protest trying to block the National Highway at Tandrakuli village. But, they were convinced by the police that this was not a wise and would solve their problem.

Anant Kumar also inspected the rehabilitation centre, visited the people injured in the landslide and discussed the issues with Kumta assistant commissioner Ramesh Kalasad.
