Fitra Committee distributes around 115 tons of rice to more than 1500 poor families in and around Bhatkal

Bhatkal: More than 1,15,000 Kgs of rice was distributed to poor people of Bhatkal, Shirali, Shirur, Honnavar, Kirimanjeshwar and Kumta by the Fitra Committee on Eid Ul Fitr night, informed the Committee Chairman Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, at a meeting organized by Fitra Committee Bhatkal at APS, Bhatkal.

The distribution circle has more than 40 centres in and around Bhatkal. A total of around 1,15,000 kgs of rice from various families in Bhatkal, was distributed among more than 1500 needy families, this year.

The quantity of rice that was distributed per family varied from 70 kgs to 200 kgs depending upon the condition of the individual families.

Since 32 years, the Fitra Committee is doing a great job of distributing the rice among the needy people in and around Bhatkal.

The total value of rice distributed by the Committee this year was over Rs. 40 lakhs.

“This is the collective effort of Tanzeem that spreads the joy during Eid in the homes of poor families by distributing the rice collected. This is a great feat by the committee and one of the biggest such program organized by any such organisations”, said Moulana Faisal Armar Nadvi, a scholar and writer.

The Eid Milan program began with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran by Moulana Furqan Maliki. Fitra Committee member S M Parvez greeted the guests while Moulana Abdul Aleem Qasmi presided over the function.

Principal of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal Moulana Maqbool Kobattey, Moulana Abrar Motiya, Moulana Fuzail Armar, Moulvi Salahuddin Shabandari, Abdus Sami Kola, Asaf Damudi and Moulana Yasir Barmawar were present among many others.
