Haliyal: Members of Maratha community staged a protest here on 3rd July, Monday accusing the missionaries of converting some Marathas into Christianity.

They submitted a memorandum to the governor through tahsildar, which stated stated that the Marathas are general peace loving people, Christian missionaries are luring some gullible Marathas to embarce Christianity by offering them certain benifits.

On the other hand, members of the dalit organisation are indulging in filing false cases of atrocity against the Marathas, they charged.

They alleged the police have failed to book the culprits under appropriate sections of the IPC The memorandum urges the governor to order an investigation into the matter and ensure exemplary punishment to the culprits.
