Mangaluru: Three arrested for trying to smuggle ganja into the district prison

Mangaluru: Three persons were nabbed by the Kadri police for trying to carry ganja into the district prison in the city on 26th August, Saturday.

The arrested accused are Rithesh from Gurumpe in Ashoknagar here, Ravi Poojary from Kemminje in Puttur, and Rajesh a resident of Kunjathoor.

According to the police sources, the police rushed to the district prison and arrested the trio once they received the tip-off that they were near the main gate of the prison trying to pass on ganja sachets to the inmates of the prison.

Around 250 gms of Ganja worth Rs. 3,500 was seized by the police. It is said that the arrested accused were imprisoned in the past in certain cases.

The raid was conducted by a police team from Kadri station led by police inspector, Maruti G Nayak.

A case has been registered at Kadri police station and further investigations are in progress.
