Mangaluru: A series of raids were conducted by a team of MCC (Mangaluru City Corporation) officials led by the Mayor Kavita Sanil, where they cracked down upon a spa, an ayurvedic centre and a unisex saloon in different parts of the city on 11th July, Tuesday.
Two girls were rescued from the first raid conducted on an Ayurvedic Therapy Centre at Bejai. Then, the team headed to Jyothi to raid a unisex beauty spa although by the time they arrived, the shutters were already down.
Next on the list was another unisex saloon near the Collector's Gate in Balmatta and then the team arrived at two more spa in Jyothi.
Addressing the media, the mayor said that she had taken up the task of raiding lllegal massage parlours and skill game centres. "I have received many complaints from public regarding massage parlours and skill game centres functioning in the city illegally. I have spoken to city police commissioner T R Suresh and sought his time to hold a joint meeting to take action against illegal massage centres and skill game centres”, she added.
Nagaveni, chairperson of the standing committee for public health, education and social justice, also accompanied the mayor during the raid.
