Kumta: A man came in contact with a high voltage electric wire, resulting in his instant death, that happened on the morning of 14th August, Monday at Sasital in Kumta.

The deceased has been identified as Ishwar Narayan Harikantra and was on his way for fishing at the time of the incident. He came in contact with the electric wire which was hanging near his place, and as a result lost his life. The enraged locals blame HESCOM officials for his death. They believe that the incident took place due to old wires not being changed into new ones.

As the information was alerted, Kumta Youth congress leader Ravikumar Shetty rushed and ensured to provide compensation from his organization and also ensured that compensation shall also be provided by HESCOM after bringing it to the notice of MLA.

The enraged residents came out protesting against HESCOM and have demanded installation of new wires immediately before the funeral is taken up. An atmosphere of tension was spread for a while in the region due to the incident.
