Ankola: A student on Sunday reportedly went missing after he fell into the sea while taking selfie in Ankola's Honey beach.

Ankola police and fire brigade rescue operation team reached the spot and scanned the area but didn't find him.

According to sources, the incident took place when the four friends were clicking selfies standing on a rock at honey beach in Ankola taluk when he fell of the rocks. He was washed away by a heavy lashing wave soon after the incident.

The drown student has been identified as Gurudarshan Shet (21), a resident of Kumta and was a B.Com student at Dr. AV Baliga college in Kumta.

They had gone near the sea  to enjoy their weekend after finishing their exams.

 A case has been registered in Ankola police station and investigations are on.
