Karwar Bribe: Surveyor caught

Karwar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) police on Friday nabbed a surveyor in Sirsi when he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000.

Sirsi taluk surveyor Mallesh was caught when he was accepting Rs 5,000 bribe from Shridhar Ganapati Hegde. Hegde got his agricultural land, which is near to forest at Todaguni, surveyed and Mallesh demanded Rs 5,000 to issue certificates.

Shirdhar approached the ACB in Karwar and acted according to their instruction. Mallesh was suspended for taking bribe when he was working as the taluk surveyor of Chintamani in Kolar. He was later transferred to Sirsi. Mallesh has been remanded in judicial custody.
