Karwar: Journalist Hariprakash Konemane advised journalists to give more priority to development of journalism than investigative reports.

Speaking after inaugurating the Press Day function, organised by District Centre Working Journalists Assocation, here on 1st July, Saturday, he stated that journalists should have concern about language, land, water, culture and writing.

"Expectations of people is changing. Journalists should keep that in mind, and should work in tune with that", he added.

City Muncipal Council President Ganapati Naik, incharge deputy commissioner L Chandrashekhar Nayak, Himanthraju, TB Harikanth, Radha Hiregoudar and others were present.

Tagore Press Award was presented to journalists Ashok Hasyagar, Manjur Fahim and Sandeep Sagar. Senior Journalist Gangadhar Hiregutti, who is honoured with Mohare Hanumantharao Award, was felicitated.

Newspaper agents Vilas Bandekar, Sooryakanth Argekar, newspaper distributor Somanath Kalgutkar and meritorious student Karan Naik were also honoured.
