The power of Big Data and data analytics cannot be underestimated. Organizations that can process large amounts of data can use it to their advantage and scale remarkable heights. Hence, to answer the increasing demand for well-trained professionals in the field of Business Analytics - JGBS took the step to give its management students the correct Launchpad to succeed in the world of Big Data.
With a powerhouse like IBM on board, the newly launched lab holds a lot of promise for students interested in Business Analytics. The IBM Business Analytics Lab will not only make the students aware of the fundamentals in the field but will offer them hands on training from experts in the field. On the occasion of the launch, Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar spoke highly of the collaboration and what it brings to the table. “I have always felt that corporations and companies look at Universities only with the need of recruitment however I am excited to see the larger vision here of training students in Big Data to fill the vacuum existing in this space” he explains.
So, what exactly to expect from the lab? Dr. Kumar elaborates, “We need to help our students and faculty to think even more creatively, which in-turn will enable them to do things which have never been done before.”
Mr. Vivek Vasishtha then talked about the support the lab will receive from IBM and its benefits for future managers. Mr. Vasishtha having over two decades of experience in the field of Information and Communication Technology understands the latest trends and demands of the industry. “Analytics is the future. Not many institutes are thinking along these lines. It is being used everywhere - from sports to the world of politics and fashion. It’s amazing to see that JGBS has the vision to create this platform,” he remarked.
Dr. Tapan K Panda remained pleased with the fact that the lab would offer the B-School access to latest IBM software, which can boost the quality of research. But he also revealed a unique aspect of the lab, “We have business analytics as a domain in our management courses. But this will be open to other schools at JGU as well.”
Thus, the newly inaugurated IBM Business Analytics Lab has been formed with the objective to fill the void for specialized professionals in the field.
