Govt urged to sanction new building for district hospital

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 19:38:19    DHNS

Karwar: MLA Satish Sail has asked the State government to sanction new building for district hospital in Karwar, so that the proposed 700 bed hospital functions soon.

In a letter to Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil, Sail said, medical college at Karwar was started last year, however, students are deprived of various facilities at the college.

The district hospital too is facing scarcity of medical facilities and poor people coming from far off places are not getting proper treatment. A total of 55 posts of doctors are vacant and there is an urgent need to fill up posts so that hospital caters to medical needs of people.

The laboratory too is not working efficiently due to shortage of technicians and poor patients are forced to get their tests done from private laboratories at exorbitant charges. Medicines supplied by government at subsidised prices too has been stopped.
