Preperations for Eid-ul-Adha:
The people of Bhatkal are in a festive mood as they are prepared to mark the occasion with religious fervor and traditional gaiety.
Shoppers have flocked to the markets and families were seen buying clothes in shops and hypermarkets. The residents browsed for cattle to slaughter, an important ritual during the festival of sacrifice. Many expatriates were also seen returning home for the holiday season from the Gulf countries.
Like all the other things, this year, even the prices for the animals have hiked to such an extent that the common man is finding it difficult to perform the religious obligation. Whereas on the other hand, it is seen in Bhatkal, that there is competition among some people in getting the high priced animals. This unfortunately nullifies the main intention behind the obligation.
A peace meeting was held on Wednesday ahead of Eid-ul-Adha and the Bhatkal Police have made a comprehensive security plan for the week-long festivity.
