Ankola: Diploma student drowns in sea while fishing

Ankola: A 22-year-old diploma student, who went for traditional fishing with his father and younger brother, went on drowning in Arabian sea at Bhavikeri village in Ankola taluk on 4th July, Tuesday.His body was later found on the shore near Deshanbhag in Bhavikeri.

According to sources, Lohit Rama Harikantha was a diploma student at RN Shetty Polytechnic College in Murudeshwar.

He recently came to his native place on observing vacation. On Tuesday morning, he along with his father Rama and younger brother went for fishing in a traditional boat. While throwing the fishing net into the sea, his leg was struck in the net and led him to fell into the water.


He drowned in the sea as the lashing waves were strong. His father made a futile attempt to trace his son, but failed. As the news spread, fisherman launched a search operation. After searching for over an hour,they found the body of Lohit on the shore near Deshanbhang in the village.

A case has been registered at the Ankola police station.
