Karwar: District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande was appraised on progress of construction works of Goverment Engineering College from Rites Supervising Engineer Ramesh at Majali on 22nd August, Tuesday.

“The construction of administration block and lecture halls have been completed. The remaining works and power connection works will be executed within 15 days,” Ramesh informed.

Instructing Ramesh to ensure completion of the works at the earliest, Deshpande observed that Rs 24.74 crore had been sanctioned for the college construction work which had been taken up in 2013, of which Rs 24 crore had been released already.

Further Rs 5 crore will be released for rest of the works, he added. Talking umbrage at Land Army Executive Engineer Thirthalingappa at snail paced construction work of hostels near the college building, Deshpande, visibly peeved, pointed out that through during his tenure Rs 1.50 crore had been sanctioned and released for the two hostels, there was no visible progress.

In response, Thirthalingappa said, construction works would be completed by December
