Karwar: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul along with other officials inspected the National Highway 66 work from Karwar to Honnavar on Tuesday.
It is said NHAI-Karnataka officials headed by general manager Y V Prasad will be inspecting the work on Wednesday or Thursday. Nakul said the Tandrakuli incident is very unfortunate. “Before monsoon, we have identified 27 spots on NH-66 and ordered for rectifying the problems in those places. The IRB had followed the instructions and we did not expect any disaster at Tandrakuli,” he said.
“Today (Tuesday), we have inspected the work and identified 5-6 places for rectification. Within a couple of days, the NHAI general manager will arrive and we will discuss the issue with the official,” he added.
Strict action would be taken against the officials if found wanting in their execution of duty.
Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna, Sadashiva Prabhu and others were present.
