4 people injured in Communal clash at Kalladaka

Kalladka: Communal clash erupted once again in Kalladka of Bantwal taluk after two groups started to pelt stones against each other, injuring some people and damaging vehicles. The incident happened on 13th June, Tuesday.

Tension prevailed as three persons were injured in stabbing and group clash over a trivial issue even though the prohibitory orders which were clamped after the assault of a youth about a fortnight ago in the town were in place till June 16.

The clash on Tuesday evening was said to have taken place after an heated conversation that took place between two persons, Khalil and Ratnakar, near a place of worship. Later, sources said that they attacked each other with knives.

HJV ( Hindu Jagarana Vedike) district president Ratnakar Shetty, HJV leader Ravi Bhandary and a local resident Khaleel, son of Abusali, who were stabbed have been admitted to hospital. Ratnakar Shetty has been admitted to a hospital in Puttur, while Khaleel has been admitted to Thumbay.

All the business establishments remained closed in Kalladka following the incident as lot of property was damaged. Even the vehicles on the highway were blocked for a while. Police had to disperse a mild lathi charge to stabalize the crowd.

According to the sources, stones were also pelted at the police. Bantwal Town Police Sub-Inspector Rakshit Gowda was injured in the stone-pelting and has been admitted to a hospital.

Two separate cases have been registered in Vittal police station following the clash.
