Honnavar: Chittani Ramachandra Hegde (84), the renowned Yakshagana artist, has slipped into coma after paralysis attack here on Friday.
He is receiving treatment at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal. Speaking to reporters KMC Hospital Dr Manjunath Hande said Ramachandra Hegde continues to be in critical condition and is not in consciousness. Currently, he is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Chittani Ramachandra Hegde, started his illustrious care at the age of 14 and went on the become first artist in India to get a Padma Shri award. In spite of his age, Chittani Ramachandra Hegde donned one of lead roles in the Sridevi Mahatme in the Yakshagana held at Sreekeshtra Bangarmuki during the Navaratri celebration.
