Karwar: While the State government has waived off loans of farmers from co-operative socities, the centre, is not ready to waive off farmers debts in nationalized banks, District In-charge Minster R V Deshpande bemoaned.
Speaking to reporters, on Friday, he said, loans worth Rs 326 crore of farmers in co-operative socities has been waived off. The input subsidy is directly credited to farmers account.
Crop Insurance:
The crop insurance compensation of Rs 13 crore for Mundagod taluk, Rs 6 crore for Sirsi, Rs 26 lakh for Yellapur and Rs 28 crore for Haliyal has been released and actions taken to transfer money to farmers accounts.
Canteens will be opened at 11 Taluk Hospital in the district. An emergency treatment unit and Generic Medical Store will be set up at all Taluk Primary Health Centres, he said.
Proposal for water supply:
Since multi-drinking water projects in Karwar taluk face salinity problem, directions have been given to Zilla Panchayat CEO to propose a plan for water from Kadra Dam, the district In-charge Minister added.
