Karwar: Karnataka Children Rights Protection Commission Chairpersons Kripa Alva said alumni associations, of government schools must be strengthened so that they can lend helping hand to their alma mater.
Addressing a meeting of officers to discuss, up-gradation of government schools’ at the DC’s office here in Karwar, recently, she said most government schools in Uttara Kannada district are celebrating their decennial year while few have celebrated centenary. Those who have studied in schools must in prestigious positions by now. Such people must not forget the contribution of their alma mater and contribute towards development of those schools.
They must work to improve quality if education provided in their schools. Though cooperation, quality of education in government schools, can be improved.
Finding that 90% of officials present had studied in government schools, she appealed to them stating: “Even you can extend help to alma mater”.
She said Education Department officials must constantly inspect schools. During inspection, it is not enough to pay attention only towards the attendance and administrative matters. They must also check steps schools are taking to provide quality education to the children. They must provide guidance to schools which are lagging.
She said officers must pay attention towards children like they take care of their own children education. “All government schools must get pure drinking water units, proper sanitation facilities, furniture, play materials, good infrastructure with small garden,” she said.
She said learning atmosphere in Anganwadis must be improvised. English, music and physical education classes must be started from first standard itself.
Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Departemnt Rajendra Bekal, said play thing to most anganwadis in Uttara Kannada district have been supplied with cooperation of private parties.
Commissioner member KB Roopa, Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul, ZP CEO L Chandrashekar and other officials were present at the meeting.
