Kundapur: Tragedy befell upon a family at Bijoor in Byndoor here, where a son allegedly assaulted his parents and then committed suicide out of guilt on 12th August, Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Raghava, s\o Manju (67 yrs) and Heriakka (57 yrs), residents of Bijoor. Raghav was mentally unstable since last two years.
According to the sources, Raghava had been to Dharmasthala two days ago to seek divine blessings, but as he returned home early morning on Saturday, he was sleepy and got frustated when his parents did not open the door soon enough as they were asleep.
However, when they finally woke up and opened the door, in a fit of rage he allegedly hit them picking up a nearby firewood. Both his parents collapsed due to heavy impact. Raghava later realized what he had done.
Gaining conscience, he thought he had killed them as they were not moving and filled with guilt, he ran out and jumped into the nearby well ending his life. The locals who arrived at the spot later admitted Manju and Heriakka to Kundapur government hospital.
A case has been registered at Byndoor police station after the police personnel visited the spot and conducted investigations.
