MANGALURU - The Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen (BJM) Mangaluru will organise an Eid Milan 2017 on Saturday, July 15 at Prestige International School auditorium, Jeppina Mogeru, NH66 (Kerala Highway), Mangaluru.
According to Aftab Husain Kola, convenor of the the BJM Eid Milan 2017, the event will begin at 5pm with an official function. Elaborating he said, "The official function will feature few short speeches, documentary of the Jamat, felicitations of prominent doctors from Mangaluru. Education awards instituted in the name of Bhatkal's illustrious community leader late MA Ghani saheb will be given away to those Bhatkal students studying in Mangaluru who have scored 85 per cent and above in SSLC/PUC 2 and Final Year Degree. The M.A. Ghani Award for Academic Excellence 2017 will also feature a short documentary on Ghani saheb.
The official function will be followed by magrib prayers and dinner. After dinner, a colourful cultural programme will be the highlight. The segment will also feature Bhatkal's acclaimed poet-singer Samiuallah Barmavar and young talent Naufil Damudi. This will be followed by raffle at which some exciting prizes are up for grabs.
Leading personalities from Mangalore and Bhatkal including prominent ulema from Bhatkal and NRIs are expected to attend the event as special guests. SM Arshad, president of BJM, has appealed to members of BJM and other Bhatkalis settled in Mangaluru to attend in large numbers. He said, "It is an event that will bring together all Bhatkalis on one platform. The education awards will certainly encourage students to perform better every year." SM Sawood who heads the BJM Medical Assistance Team, said, "We will be honouring about 20 prominent doctors who have helped Bhatkal patients with their special services and care."
Imtiyaz Damda, general secretary of BJM, has informed that Eid Milan entry tickets are priced at Rs. 400 for adult, 250 for students studying in Mangaluru/children above 5 years. Tickets are available with Talha Akrami (9886063921).
As part of the Eid Milan, an essay contest in English has already been organised. A written quiz will also be held for school students on July 9. According to Moulana Dawood Khalifa, "Essay and Quiz winners will be given prizes at the Eid Milan."
