Bhatkal: The annual Rabita Educational Awards 2026, organised by the Rabita Society to honour outstanding academic achievers from Bhatkal, will be held on Sunday, August 9, at the Anjuman Ground. Organisers said the event is expected to draw a large gathering of students, parents, educationists and community members, continuing its tradition as one of the town's most prominent educational programmes.
Rabita Society General Secretary Atiqur Rahman Muniri said the awards ceremony has become an important platform for recognising academic excellence while motivating students to pursue higher education and prepare for competitive examinations.
He said this year's chief guest will be Sameer Ahmed Siddiqui, a noted academic and mentor associated with leading civil services coaching institutes in New Delhi. Widely recognised for his expertise in General Studies and competitive examinations, Siddiqui has guided numerous aspirants across the country towards success in the Civil Services Examination. Muniri said his address is expected to provide valuable guidance and motivation to students aspiring to join the civil services.
The programme will be held in two sessions, with the first scheduled from 10 am to 12.45 pm and the second beginning after Asr prayers and continuing until Maghrib. The event will include the presentation of awards and motivational addresses.
Programme Convener Abdul Salam Damda Abu said around 33 awards are expected to be presented this year to meritorious students, although the final number may vary slightly. He added that the organisers are also considering introducing attractive prizes for attendees who remain present throughout the programme, with a formal announcement expected shortly.
Rabita Society Treasurer Maulavi Sabir Ali Akbara Nadvi said the eligibility criterion for II PUC students has been raised from 90 per cent to 95 per cent, while SSLC students must continue to secure 95 per cent or above, as in the previous year.
