Bhatkal: In connection to the Yamuna rape-murder case, a memorandum was submitted to the governor through Assistant Commissioner in order to re-investigate the case. The memorandum was submitted by Bhatkal Taluka Namdhari Sangh and Hanumanth Shirali Mandir Front.
Recently, the district court had released the main accused of Yamuna murder case, Venkatesh Naik after seven years of custody as there was no solid proof against him.
Many such cases have been reported in Bhatkal before, where the accused was allowed to walk free due to unavailability of any firm evidence. This has raised questions against the functioning of Bhatkal police. The police have been rendered not useful in solving such cases.
The memorandum stated that there has been injustice regarding this case and if the case is not re-opened again, a strong protest will be held.
Tahsildar VN Badgar accepted the memorandum. Bhatkal Nammdhari Samaj President M R Naik, B K Naik, D B Naik, J J Naik, Sunil B Naik, Subra Naik, Rajesh Naik, Shridhar Naik, Pandu Naik, Shnakar Naik, Krishna Naik and others were present.
