Mangaluru: Dejected over failing in an exam, a first year engineering student allegedly hanged herself to a ceiling fan at her hostel on 1st June, Thursday in Valachil.

The deceased was identified as Suchethana (18), a resident of Chikkamagaluru district. In a suicide note left behind, it was written that all were able to pass the exams except her. She was unable to fulfill her father's dream, which made her take this extreme step.

Accordingly to college management, Suchethana was doing well in her studies. She was studying first year engineering in computer science stream.

In this regard, a case has been registered in Mangalore Rural police station and investigations are on.
