Bantwal: Knife found in a rickshaw during inspection, two held

Bantwal: During an inspection being conducted at Panemangalore here, the police found a sharp knife in an auto rickshaw on 9th July, Sunday night and following this, two were taken into custody.

According to sources, the untoward incidents that took place at BC Road during RSS worker Sharath’s funeral on Saturday had led to a tightened police security and nakabandi (blockade) at important areas in the district.

One such inspection was being conducted at the old bridge in Panemangalore and during this, the Udupi police officials and personnel found a knife in one of the auto rickshaws.

The rickshaw was seized and the occupants of it were arrested by the police. According to the Section 144 which has been clamped in the district, no one is allowed to carry sharp objects or weapons with them in public places.

A case has been registered and police are further investigating the matter.
