Bantwal: The Mithanadka ward bypoll in Karopady Gram Panchayat of Bantwal taluk was won by Mohammed Anwar, brother of murdered Congress leader Abdul Jaleel on 5^th July, Wednesday.

The bypoll was necessary due to the brutal murder of Jaleel, the vice president of the Gram Panchayat who was previously representing the Mithanadka ward.

Congress backed Anwar and BJP candidate Harish Kodla had participatedin the election which was held on 2^nd July and the results were declared on 5^th July.

Anwar defeated Harish by polling 449 votes while Harish had bagged 321 votes.
