Bantwal: Customers were disturbed when an ATM in Vittal dispensed torn notes of Rs. 2000. The incident occurred on 6th June, Tuesday.

A resident of Salethur, Bashir entered a ATM at Vittal belonging to Karnataka Bank to withdraw money to meet some medical expenses. But, he received the amount in torn notes of Rs. 2000. He was confused and waited outside the ATM and later 3 other customers faced the same issue.

They received the phone number of Karnataka Bank manager from the security guard outside the ATM and when Bashir explained the situation, the manager told them that vehicle carrying cash would come shortly and they could exchange the torn notes. But even after a long wait the vehicle didn’t arrive.

When called again, the manager told them that the vehicle went to Subramanya instead of Vittal and hence they should come to Kadaba and exchange the torn notes.

The manager of the Kadaba branch of Karnataka Bank, assured the customers that they have taken the complaint seriously and answers are being demanded from the CMS agency which deals with the supply of cash to ATM for the trouble caused to the customers.

He has requested the customers who faced similar issue to come to the bank to exchange their notes. As of now, it is not known how many customers have received torn notes.
